Common IRS Issues

IRS problems almost always come in one of two major categories - Audits or Collection Action. Let Us Help You.
Only Certified Public Accountants, attorneys and Enrolled Agents are legally permitted to act on your behalf in front of the IRS. Tom Buck is a veteran CPA. He's an experienced and highly successful practitioner in front of the IRS. Tom has learned over the years that successful IRS Problem Resolution requires many elements.
Knowledge of the tax laws, combined with proficiency in current IRS procedure, is vital. An aggressive strategy, joined with the persistence to cut through the red tape and bureaucracy, is the difference between winning and losing when facing the Goliath that is the Internal Revenue Service.
This is our stock in trade. In over 25 years of helping people with their IRS issues, we have never lost an IRS audit case. This is why more and more taxpayers are turning to Buck, CPA as the solution to their IRS problems.

Audits

These days most audits are handled by mail or phone. Only about 10% require a personal meeting between the taxpayer’s representative and the IRS. The emphasis on the term “representative” is intentional. With Buck, CPA representing you, it’s unlikely that you will meet with the IRS. We’ll take care of that for you. We have learned that when clients meet with the IRS, that stressful situation provides too many opportunities for inappropriate information to be offered to the auditor. There’s no need to present an unintended advantage to the IRS.
By the way, once you have engaged us, you are entitled to refer any phones calls or other contacts you might get from the IRS to us. You should not ever need to speak directly with them again.

Collection Actions

Collection matters can present serious danger to your financial well-being. The IRS is required by law to follow specific procedures as it perfects its ability to take enforced collection action – that’s when they start taking paychecks, bank accounts and so on.
When the IRS tells you that they intend to collect what they say you owe, it’s time to get in touch with us. We have the ability to stop aggressive IRS collection actions, allowing us time to do the strategic work necessary to offer you the best possible result and put your mind at ease.

Offers in Compomise

It’s possible to settle IRS debts for, in some cases, pennies on the dollar. You may be eligible to present an “Offer In Compromise” (OIC) as a means of dealing with your IRS debt. This instrument allows you to offer the IRS an amount substantially less than they are seeking as a means of satisfying your debt. The process is one best entered into by a seasoned professional. (Be careful who you hire to help you. We, all too frequently, hear from people who have paid several thousands of dollars up front but the work never got done).

We will analyze your situation with you so you understand what is and will be happening and what to expect. If an OIC is right for you, we’ll take it every step of the way leaving you to relax and get on with your life.

If there is no chance of getting the OIC approved, then we won’t file it, but will seek other means of getting your situation resolved.
